End of July 2008 Update

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

As with what I have posted on the Sound Upload Forum, at the end of July 2008 I will be updating a lot of things on Sound Upload and I need your input on more new or updated ideas, I have collected a few so far and I was hoping you’ll be able to tell me a few more please, if you have any. :)

“Your Audio” Minor-Update

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

I’ve just updated only a small thing on the “Your Audio” page. The audio is now shown in uploaded order… showing the oldest to newest. If you would prefer the newest to oldest view instead then please mention it.

More Updates

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Ok, so I have been working hard to expand on Sound Upload. Now here is a list of all the new things that have been added to Sound Upload within the past 2 months.

Sound Upload Music (Visit)
You obviously know about this as this has been mentioned. Basically if you are an unsigned artist or band then you can promote your stuff for free. Just register an account and change it to a “music” account.

Sound Upload Lyrics (Visit)
Keep getting told by your mates that you”don’t know the words” to a song? Don’t worry - I get told it too… so now you don’t need to worry as there are over 35,000 lyrics added from over 1,000 artists in the lyrics directory. Plus more are being added weekly - including things you wouldn’t think of, like The Brand New Cheesy Song from Radio 1’s Chris Moyles Show.

Sound Upload News (Visit)
This opened yesterday with the first piece of news being added earlier on. The news section will be the top place to be for worldwide music news, including new releases, chart positions (UK at the moment) and general music news.

Reffering after Logging In and Logging Out
Originally when you was on a page and you had to log in or wanted to log out it used to redirect you to the homepage, well now it doesn’t (unless you are viewing a member page - of which then you will be refferred to the member page). I added this feature because it is a bit annoying when you’re in deep in the site somewhere and lose the page because you had to log in / log out. Hope this addition helps!

That’s basically everything that is available on Sound Upload at the moment - the site is still being updated with different bits and bobs that help the site run much better and still all for FREE! If you do like the service then please feel free to donate using the PayPal donate button at the bottom of any page.

Please keep linking to Sound Upload and help promote it as I know this service is very helpful for a lot of people!

Privacy Policy

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Because Sound Upload is a free service it has to be funded by advertisements (and donations). The advertisements are done by Google AdSense and AdBrite, however Google has updated their terms and every site that runs AdSense MUST have a Privacy Policy basically stating that the adverts you see will save a cookie onto your computer - just so it tells your browser which adverts you have seen (They mainly do this so you don’t always see the exact same advert, or you don’t see an advert for Cars in the USA when you’re living in Kenya). This doesn’t affect your viewing and use of the site however I would like to tell you that the privacy policy page (if you wish to read it) is accessible by clicking the “Privacy Policy” link in the footer of any page.

You can see my comments

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I have changed two things with the comment system on the audio pages. Firstly you can see my comments as a staff member of Sound Upload, they’ll appear with a blood red background on them - so you know they’re from me. Also secondly I have changed it so if you are logged in you no longer need to enter your name into the comment section when posting a comment. Saves you a few extra seconds.

New Upload Box

Monday, April 21st, 2008

I will be testing a new method of uploading audio over the next few days to stop pages from timing out when you’re trying to upload big files. I will be going from the default method to an Ajax uploading box. You shouldn’t expect any problems as I will have had tested it out myself before launching it.

Possible Update… Language Packs?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Ok, I was just wondering as Sound Upload is a global based website, “what happens if a person from another country comes on here and doesn’t speak a single word of English?”. So I think I might impliment a massive upgrade to the site that allows visitors to select their desired language and view the site in that certain language - with the information of what language they’re picking to be saved in a cookie on their computer.

Good idea or not?

So far I’ve got the following languages to start on:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Russian
  • Polish
  • Punjabi
  • Chinese
  • Japanese

That should be enough.

Friday Update

Friday, March 28th, 2008

This Friday (28th March) Sound Upload will be having a few things changed. One of the main things is if a copyrighted piece of music has been uploaded and then removed (because Sound Upload cannot be hosting stuff like that!) then there will be a link and “redirect” on the “Error” page forwarding you to the main artists website, where you can purchase their song.
